Galway Art Academy is a leading art school in the west of Ireland run by fully qualified Teaching Artist Dee Deegan.
A space where young people can dream, create, play, and work together, growing into confident, creative thinkers shaping the future with creativity at its core.
Hello, I'm Dee Deegan. I’ve been an artist since I was a child -- in fact, that's all I've ever wanted to be. In 2015, I expanded my love for CREATIVITY and EDUCATION into my own school: Galway Art Academy.
I TEACH art at all levels -- from primary and secondary schoolchildren to third-level students along with children and adults with disabilities.
I am passionate about all things creative. As a subject, art offers an opportunity for self-expression, helping us to understand our place in the world. I strive for learning through discovery, investigation and exploration, creating projects for my students that excite, challenge and motivate.
Creativity goes beyond just drawing and painting—it nurtures critical thinking, problem-solving, collaboration, and self-expression. Through Creative Play, students are inspired to push traditional boundaries and explore their innate curiosity.
Fun
We believe that learning should be fun! Through playful, interactive experiences, students grow in confidence and develop socially, emotionally, physically, and intellectually.
Learning
We offer a structured curriculum focused on art, craft, and design, with meaningful cross-curricular connections. Our founder, Dee, uses her expertise to ensure activities complement students' school learning experiences. Our goal is to cultivate a lifelong love of learning.
Respect
Respect is at the heart of everything we do. Our inclusive environment ensures every student feels valued and heard. We promote respect for oneself, others, and the environment, following the golden rule: Treat others as you would like to be treated.
