Galway Art Academy offers a weekly Afterschool Art Club for children aged 7 to 12 yrs old in Knocknacarra & Salthill. If you have any questions please contact me.
What to expect from Afterschool Art Clubs & Holiday Camps
First and foremost, the classes are about having fun while learning and being creative.
You can expect your child to have an immensely creative experience in my class.
We will work on a variety of projects to stimulate the imagination and promote healthy development.
Classes are tailored to suit individual students needs and interests.
Activities include drawing, painting, printing, collage, junk art, bookmaking, clay, origami, seasonal crafts etc.
I incorporate art history references and include links with other subjects such as Science, History and English to create a well-rounded approach to creativity.
I encourage students to show me any previous artwork they have done and bring images from home that they may be interested in using for inspiration.
Students will be informed about any relevant art competitions that may be running and encouraged to enter.
Students will often go home with something physical in their hands, other times they may be challenged to look, discuss and think and go home with something in their heads but most importantly I aim to send them home with something in their hearts….a lifelong love of being creative! Children who are encouraged to think creatively often exhibit higher self-esteem and motivation. Exploration and learning through art also helps them to understand the world around them and their place in it. Please do not underestimate the benefits of giving your child this wonderful opportunity.
